Different types of Pharases in grammar
❇️1❇️Phrase ➡️A Phrase contains one or more words and function as a constituent to form larger units .(clauses,sentences). Example: ➡️Ali is a good boy.(NP) mean Noun phrase. It starts from noun.(Ali) another example .She is running .(VP) means Verb phrase "running " is a verb. watching TV is common nowadays . (VP) "watching " is a verb. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ⚛️2⚛️Clause: ➡️ A group of words having a subject and predicate .. Subject=Clause and Predicate = Verb. We may say that Clause = Subject+Predicate.. . . . .✡️Examples:✡️ . She takes tea. In this statement "She" is NP & also subject and the rest part of the sentence is Predicate.That is "takes tea".lets take another example . My friend plays well. " My friend " is subject and "plays well" is Predicate.. . . . . . . . . . . . . ✡️3✡️ Predicate:➡️The part of a Clause or sentence that tells something about the Subject is called predicate .Examples: Pakistan imports Oil.
